Sunnybrook Park Fall Colours

My wife and I went on a little photography excursion this past weekend to Sunnybrook Park, located at the bottom of Leslie, in Toronto. The trip was to take some photos of the fall colours. Unfortunately, like most of Southern Ontario it seems, the colours are really muted this fall. It was a bit of a disappointment, but I did manage to snap a few pictures.

Wildflower Walk

I took these photographs back in early September, when my oldest daughter and I went for a walk. We went up by Leslie and Highway 407, near some new housing development. New, meaning the neighbourhood has probably been around for a few years, but there is still new construction going on. The few businesses that are there all have shiny new buildings, and the homes are likewise new, clean and looking good. It was remarkable to view the areas where new construction is happening. During the first wave of construction, they paved a few streets and sidewalks that didn't really lead anywhere, but was preparatory for the future development that is now happening. Given the lack of use, it was amazing to see what a few years had done. Nature was slowly creeping back. Reminds me that we don't really have much to worry about with the oft mentioned demise of nature -- nature's pretty sturdy. It's us we have to worry about. We're the ones that we're killing with the abuse of our environment. Nature -- she'll be long after we're gone.

Horseback Riding

My youngest daughter loves horses. So this past summer -- sometime in August -- she invited me out to go horseback riding with her. Actually, I think it was more like she wanted to go horseback riding, she had found a place that would cater, but she needed a drive to get there. For the time and investment on my part, I would be allowed to ride a horse as well. Problem is, as much as I like horseback riding -- I hate it when the gallop. I can't post to save my ... well, I can't post. So yes, it did hurt.

Bike Riding

I'm in the process of going through a few hundred photographs I took during the summer -- mostly when out riding my bike or walking with my wife. I've just uploaded a few from a bike ride I went on on July 30th. The sun was setting in the sky and I had the Sony camera with me. It's not a bad camera, and has aged pretty well -- although it is a few generations old now.

I saw some interesting flowers during that ride. I'm not sure what they are, as I'm more of a person who appreciates the beauty of nature, while not being quite as educated on her finer details as perhaps I should be. If you know what flower that is below, drop me a comment. And clicking on the image will take you to the Webshots gallery that has the rest from the trip.

Outhouse

Here's one I took during a walk with my wife in the summer. We walked by this street, and looked in. This just struck me as funny. Maybe you had to be there.

Anyway, it's nothing special, so I haven't loaded it onto any of my Webshots galleries.

Puss in Sink

Not sure if I'm going to maintain this ... but this is the start. I'm in the process of building the v2.0 of my site, and part of it will be using the blog format for the gallery section. That's the idea right now anyway. Once I've revamped my site, I'll be moving this blog from here to my domain. Until then, I've got stuff that needs posting, so I'm posting it.

To start off my new blog and gallery site ... I present to you my cat ... caught in the act of getting her fix from a dripping faucet.
