Israel and Gaza

They will of course, only learn after one side has completely wiped the other out ... and right now, it's a race between the mighty and the many. The Israelis are better (United States) armed than the Palestinians, and, the Palestinians are producing more babies than the Israelis. There will be much more suffering before victory and peace.

Cyanide and Happiness

Underwater sculptures

Jason de Caires Taylor creates underwater sculptures -- located in water shallow enough for them to experienced via snorkeling or via glass bottom boat -- and designed to become a part of the environment they are installed in. The sculptures quickly enough attract corals and take on a life of their own. Totally cool!

Canon's point, hack and shoot!

Hac-a-Day has a great post for those with point-and-click Canon cameras. Read it, do a little work, hack your camera, and turn it into a PRO machine! Totally cool hack, and you'll be able to take extremely long and short exposure shots, along with levergaing a host of new functionality. All of this comes courtesy of the hacking community.

Coronal Mass Ejection

NASA's STEREO satellite captured the first images ever of a collision between a solar "hurricane", called a coronal mass ejection (CME), and a comet on April 4, 2007. The collision caused the complete detachment of the comet's plasma tail. Comets are icy leftovers from the solar system's formation billions of years ago. They usually hang out in the cold, distant regions of the solar system, but occasionally a gravitational tug from a planet, another comet, or even a nearby star sends them into the inner solar system. Once there, the sun's heat and radiation vaporizes gas and dust from the comet, forming its tail. Comets typically have two tails, one made of dust and a fainter one made of electrically conducting gas, called plasma.

Mmm ... Ramadan

Personally, I don't have the time for religion -- and I'm putting it politely here. They're all run by stupid old men, more interested in their power trip and as result, tend to fuck the world over rather than doing much good. But I'm not going to start. This post is about Ramadan. When I was young, growing up in Guyana, the best thing about Ramadan was when it was over -- because when it was over, it didn't matter if you were Muslim or not -- you got to eat -- and that's probably the only good thing about religion -- the feasts they produce. I'm salivating here.

Some of the images for the slideshow above was obtained from the Boston Globe, and others just came from random image searches.

Mad about roundabouts

I just came back from Scotland, and encountered roundabouts for the first time. After a few days, I acutally got the hang of them. Could be useful here in North America.

Canadians

For those unfamiliar with Canada ... this is what all Canadians look like.
