Living in Three Centuries: The Face of Age

Mark Story has captured 72 faces, of individuals who have lived through three centuries. The faces of age is remarkable -- each capturing more than the normal lifetime of stories. Check them out, and read their stories.

The thumbnail on the right is of the oldest living man in the USA. At 112 years old, he saw combat in WWI, where he earned the Victory Medal, the Occupational Medal, and the French Legion of Honor. He has seven children, and worked as a superintendent of a Sunday School class for 75 years. He never smoke, drank or took any kind of medicine. He drove his car until he was 106 years old, and only stopped after his kids hid his car keys.

Mammatus Clouds

This photo of Mammatus Clouds was taken by Jorn Olsen, over Hastings, Nebraska. Weirdly, wondrous looking clouds.

From Wikipedia: Mammatus (also known as mamma or mammatocumulus, meaning "breast-cloud") is a meteorological term applied to a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud. The name "mammatus" is derived from mammary, due to some persons believing that the clouds bear a significant resemblance to human female breasts.

A Hole in Mars

Black spots have been discovered on Mars that are so dark that nothing inside can be seen. Quite possibly, the spots are entrances to deep underground caves capable of protecting Martian life, were it to exist. The unusual hole pictured above was found on the slopes of the giant Martian volcano Arsia Mons. The above image was captured three weeks ago by the HiRISE instrument onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter currently circling Mars. The holes were originally identified on lower resolution images from the Mars Odyssey spacecraft, The above hole is about the size of a football field and is so deep that it is completely unilluminated by the Sun. Such holes and underground caves might be prime targets for future spacecraft, robots, and even the next generation of human interplanetary explorers. [Source: NASA]
