Inauguration Day From Space

As promised, here are stunningly clear satellite images of the tops of some two million heads during today’s inauguration. These images were snapped at 11:19am today by GeoEye-1, the most powerful commercial imaging satellite in the sky, from 423 miles above the trampled grass on the National Mall.

Drivers wanted

How long did we think we could keep this up? Of course, once we start climbing out of the recession, this will all be forgotten and expectations will start inflating all over again. We really need to curb our consumption. [Source: the Guardian.

Israel and Gaza

They will of course, only learn after one side has completely wiped the other out ... and right now, it's a race between the mighty and the many. The Israelis are better (United States) armed than the Palestinians, and, the Palestinians are producing more babies than the Israelis. There will be much more suffering before victory and peace.

Underwater sculptures

Jason de Caires Taylor creates underwater sculptures -- located in water shallow enough for them to experienced via snorkeling or via glass bottom boat -- and designed to become a part of the environment they are installed in. The sculptures quickly enough attract corals and take on a life of their own. Totally cool!

Canon's point, hack and shoot!

Hac-a-Day has a great post for those with point-and-click Canon cameras. Read it, do a little work, hack your camera, and turn it into a PRO machine! Totally cool hack, and you'll be able to take extremely long and short exposure shots, along with levergaing a host of new functionality. All of this comes courtesy of the hacking community.
