Palm Island

This is Palm Island, an engineering masterpiece, captured from space by the IKONOS satellite. This is one of three large artificial islands being built off the coast of the United Arab Emirates. This one is almost completed. The purpose? To make this the biggest tourism attraction in the world. Hmm ... tourism .. in the Middle East.

Ann Coulter via Non Sequitur

Do you think Ann Coulter would be smart if she figured out that the reason her dumb-ass-mouth can spout such shit without getting a hard slap across the lips is because of progress made by liberal thinking people? Or would she still be a dumb-ass?

And is Ann Coulter an anorexic?

Big Hole

I just found about this via reddit.com. It's a big hole in Russia -- a diamond mine apparently, in Eastern Siberia, near the town of Mirna. It's about half a kilometre deep and one and a quarter in diameter. It's interesting -- in a horrifying kinda way.

The Universe in a Year

What if the entire 14 billion years of the universe's existence was compressed down to 1 year? Not surprisingly, everything we care about would only happen in a few minutes on the last day of this cosmic year.

Kama Sutra

For a book on human sexual behaviour written in the 4th century, the Kama Sutra, or Kamasutram, continues to demonstrate remarkable staying power. It's a testament to the our continued fascination with just about everything sexual. We are sexual beings -- and our purpose is to procreate.

The illustrations that made up the Kama Sutra has gone 3D -- as in sculpture. Check out the 360-degree animation of the sculptures from the book, from the Museum of Modern Art in France. The skill of the artist is simply amazing.

My Father's Day Present

My daughters took me for a walk on Sunday, for Father's Day. I have to say that I was a bit more brave than them, walking through the jungle that is a local park. I had fun taking pictures, although the camera running out of battery was a little frustrating.
